'Only he knows what he feels' - Martino explains why Mexico star Dos Santos opted to play hours after father's death

The midfielder started Thursday's match after Qatar shortly after the passing of Zizinho, who starred in Mexico during the 1980s

Mexico coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino explained Jonathan dos Santos' decision to play in Mexico's Gold Cup semifinal against Canada just hours after his father died, saying that the midfielder took the field because he believed it's what his dad would have wanted.

Geraldo Francisco dos Santos, better known as Zizinho, died at the age of 59 on Thursday, just hours before his son was set to take the field against Canada.

But Dos Santos opted to start the game for Mexico, playing 61 minutes as El Tri went on to win 2-1.
