The Colorado Rapids went top of the Western Conference thanks to Kevin Doyle in MLS.
A Kevin Doyle brace helped the Colorado Rapids move atop the MLS Supporters' Shield standings on Thursday.
Doyle struck either side of a second half Chris Wondolowski penalty as the Rapids recorded a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. The result extended the Rapids' unbeaten run to six games as they moved a point ahead of Dallas in both the West and in the race to the prize awarded to the team with the best regular season record.
The defeat ended the Earthquakes' slim chance to make the playoffs.
