Mexico end in first place of Group A after controversial tie against Costa Rica.

Mexico and Costa Rica battled to a scoreless tie that gave Mexico first place of Group A. Both teams had already qualified to the Quarterfinals and were only battling for first place where Mexico’s better goal differential gave them the top spot. Mexico had been the better team but a controversial offside call forced them to only get a single point from the match. Mexico will now face off in the Quarterfinals against Saudi Arabia while Costa Rica will play against the United States.

The 1st half started with Mexico having the debut of Mateo Chavez in an official tournament while up top he went with only Raul Jimenez while Roberto Alvarado and Alexis Vega played a little behind him.
