It took 25 shots and over 77 per cent possession but in the end, Manchester City emerge victorious over Southampton by a score of 2-1. Ward-Prowse’s 14th minute goal pushed the Saints in front, and from there it was a desperate defensive performance as the visitors whacked every cross away in hopes of holding on for a famous 1-0 victory. The second half brought tired legs and Manchester City finally found their deserved breakthrough with 20 minutes remaining thanks to Aguero’s close-range finish. Not to be denied all three points, City kept the momentum and found a late winner in an unlikely source after Walker smashed home Angelino’s cross.
