- 9' A poor pass from Duarte sends the ball straight into the path of Costa, who immediately sprints into the left-hand side of the penalty area. He holds onto possession for far too long, however, and is pushed towards the byline by Acosta before he sends his chipped cross straight into the hands of Pemberton.
- 7' And now Luiz goes close! They keep the move alive and work the ball over to the left flank, where Costa whips in a brilliant curling cross. It flies past three Costa Rica defenders before reaching the aforementioned Brazil centre-back at the far post, but he's denied by another great diving stop from Pemberton.
