Lionel Messi was happy to be able to deliver victory for Argentina against Ecuador in World Cup qualifying on Thursday.
The Barcelona captain netted the only goal of the game from the penalty spot at an empty La Bombonera to ensure Lionel Scaloni’s side got off to a great start.
Messi offered his thoughts on the win and being back with the national team after the game.
“It was a complicated year for what we are living through,”he said.
“Being able to go back and play with the Argentina national team and give happiness to people with the win, beyond the game, serves to decompress.
