Barcelona and Lionel Messi’s representatives have been negotiating a new deal for a few weeks now, with multiple positive meetings held between Jorge Messi, Leo’s father and agent, and club president Joan Laporta.
Reliable reports in Spain are now suggesting that Messi has reached an agreement with Laporta to renew his contract for two more years. As per the same, Barcelona is hoping to finalize the agreement between today or tomorrow, coinciding with Messi’s 34th birthday.
Furthermore, although not 100% confirmed yet, this deal will likely include an option to renew for an additional year — a 2+1 deal.
