Joan Laporta was only officially unveiled as Barcelona’s new president on Wednesday but has reportedly already been hard at work thinking about Lionel Messi’s future.
The new president has plans to offer a new deal that is a “life contract” but will see the captain take a pay cut, which will also serve as an example to the rest of the team, according to El Confidencial.
The report reckons Barca are hopeful Messi will understand the need to take a pay cut and that he could see his salary reduced by up to 30 per cent.
