Landon Donovan scored two minutes after entering as a second-half substitute to help the Los Angeles Galaxy tie Sporting KC, 2-2, on Sunday.
Donovan entered in the 74th minute and scored with his left foot after a give-and-go with Robbie Rogers.
Los Angeles (11-4-15) moved into second place in the Western Conference standings — four points behind FC Dallas. Sporting KC (11-12-7) is five points ahead of Seattle for the sixth and final playoff spot.
Alan Gordon scored his second goal in two games in the seventh minute to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.
