La Liga Table 2016 Week 25: Updated Standings Following Wednesday's Result

Barcelona took advantage of their game in hand at the summit of the Spanish Primera Division on Wednesday by defeating Sporting Gijon, 3-1, as Lionel Messi became the first player to score 300 goals in La Liga.

The Argentine wizard netted twice at El Molinon to send the Blaugrana six points clear at the top of the standings.

Luis Suarez also scored, making up for an earlier penalty miss in the match.
