LA City Council approves LAFC stadium plan

The demolition of the existing building on the site will begin this summer with the team set to start playing in 2018.

Major League Soccer is coming to Los Angeles proper.

The LA City Council approved the environmental impact plan and other agreements that were the final hurdle for expansion side LAFC to clear before beginning construction on a stadium near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

“We are excited to bring innovation and creativity to LA and deliver on our commitment to bring a state-of-the-heart experience to the community,” said LAFC Executive Chairman Peter Guber, who is also one of 27 members of the ownership group, in a news release.
