Kepa Arrizabalaga 'Not Proud' of Refusing to Come Off Before Carabao Cup Final Shootout

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has admitted that he is ‘not proud’ of defying former manager Maurizio Sarri when the Spaniard infamously refused to be substituted ahead of the penalty shootout in last season's Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

As Kepa appeared to struggle with a knock, Sarri opted to put penalty saving specialist Willy Caballero in goal for the decisive shootout – the Argentine had saved three Liverpool spot-kicks to help City win the same trophy in 2016.

However, Kepa waved away his manager’s instructions to leave the pitch. The £72m stopper did go on keep out Leroy Sane’s penalty in the shootout, but Chelsea were defeated overall.
