According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, Newcastle United are highly interested in signing Brandon Williams this month.
The Magpies have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old defender, with The Chronicle claiming earlier this month that the player himself is keen to join the Tyneside club.
Downie has claimed that Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen are interested in him as well.
Jamal Lewis has struggled to make an impact since his £15m move from Norwich in the summer, and Bruce wants competition in that department.
Downie said to Sky Sports: “I know there is interest in Brandon Williamsfrom Manchester United.
