Joan Laporta sees Julian Alvarez as the best Barcelona replacement for Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly thinking about potential replacements for Robert Lewandowski and has his eye on Atletico’s Julian Alvarez.

Lewandowski will turn 37 during the summer and it’s looking increasingly likely that next year will be the veteran’s last at Barcelona.

Laporta, who also has one eye on the next Barcelona elections which are expected to take place in 2026, is already thinking about Alvarez and thinks the striker could be used as a trump card, according to Marca.

The idea seems to be that Laporta will hope to convince voters to re-elect him by promising to bring Alvarez to the club in a big-money transfer.
