The Red Bulls head coach led his side to the Supporters' Shield in his first season in charge.
New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch has been voted MLS Coach of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.
After the controversial offseason firing of Mike Petke, Marsch stepped in and hit the ground running. The first-year New York boss led the club to an 18-10-6 regular season record, which was good enough to clinch the Supporters’ Shield.
Marsch – who coached the Montreal Impact in their expansion season of 2012 – is the sixth former MLS player to win the honor.
