'I could have been like Eto'o or Drogba' – Antwerp's Dieumerci Mbokani laments Liverpool snub

Eight years after turning down the chance to play for Liverpool, Royal Antwerp forward Dieumerci Mbokani admits he regrets not joining the 2017-18 Uefa Champions League finalists.

The Reds, under manager Roy Hodgson, were reportedly interested in signing the Congolese star in 2010 after his impressive goalscoring form for Standard Liege in the Belgian First Division A.

The 32-year-old's form also attracted interest from former French champions Monaco whom he joined in the summer of 2010.

Mbokani had an underwhelming stint in the French Ligue 1 scoring just a goal in 10 league appearances before he was shipped out on loan to Wolfsburg in January which was followed by a permanent switch to Anderlecht.
