It is possible to condemn Solo’s repeated incidents of boorish behavior — including this situation, disturbingly ugly if not provably criminal — without torturing the truth.
Hope Solo is a tough defender who is tough to defend.
Benched for this, sent home for that, suspended for the other thing. She may or may not be more trouble than she is worth to the United States Women’s National Team, but she certainly is more trouble than she needs to be.
