The win moved Sporting KC up to fourth in the Western Conference with games in hand against each of their opponents ahead of them in the standings. It was also their ninth game at home in 2015, and their ninth game unbeaten at home in 2015.
Sporting KC threatened for a large portion of the first half but could not put it together until the 32nd minute.
