Haiti replaces Australia as USWNT opponent for September friendlies

The U.S. women's national team will face Haiti in Detroit and Birmingham, Alabama, after Australia dropped out.

After kicking off its Women's World Cup victory tour with a pair of blowouts against Costa Rica, the U.S. national team won't be getting the uptick in challenge it had hoped for.

The Americans will face Haiti in victory tour matches later this month after World Cup quarterfinalist Australia dropped out because of a labor dispute between the players and federation, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday.

The matches, which will be hosted Sept. 17 in Detroit and Sept.
