Gulati backs Klinsmann after Gold Cup collapse

U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati broke his recent silence on Saturday to back U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann after his team's Gold Cup failure.

CHESTER, Pa.— Four years ago, U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati fielded questions after a disappointing Gold Cup defeat for the U.S. national team, and sounded like someone who wasn’t all that confident in the state of the team. Just days later, Gulati fired then-U.S. head coach Bob Bradley.

Four years later, after seeing the U.S. stumble to its worst Gold Cup finish since 2000, Gulati sounded like someone far more confident in the state of the team, and someone who wasn’t even considering a coaching change.
