FIFA Meeting to Focus on Overhauls in Wake of Corruption Scandal

LONDON — Top officials of FIFA were meeting on Monday to discuss ways to overhaul the organization and to restore its battered image after world soccer’s governing body was ensnared in the worst corruption scandal in its history.

Sepp Blatter, FIFA’s departing president, was also expected to discuss a date for a new presidential election at the emergency meeting of the organization’s executive committee.

The meeting represented the highest-profile gathering of the sport’s top officials since Mr. Blatter, who has led the organization for 17 years, said he would resign his position as law enforcement officials in the United States confirmed that he was the focus of a federal corruption investigation.
