‘Ending 2023 with stitches’ - Barcelona’s Ilkay Gundogan shows off head injury after accident

Ilkay Gundogan has ended 2023 with a head injury that has left the Barcelona midfielder needing stitches.

The Germany international reportedly cut his head in an accident in the gym at the Ciutat Esportiva after the team’s open training session on Friday.

Mundo Deportivo report that Gundogan was left bleeding and eventually ended up going to hospital to have the injury checked out.

Barcelona’s summer signing ended up having a few stitches inserted, with wife Sara showing off the damage to her husband’s head in a post on social media.

The injury may be a painful one for Gundogan but it’s not expected to keep him out of action.
