The Sierra Leone forward has been cleared to play after being diagnosed with a heart defect.

D.C. United has added to its forward pool, signing forward Alhaji Kamara, the team announced Wednesday.

The move is not without some controversy as the Sierra Leone forward was sidelined with a heart defect, though D.C. United says he has been cleared to play.

Kamara last played for the Swedish side IFK Norrkoping in 2015, scoring six goals in 14 league appearances (three starts). However, he was barred from playing this season, after medical tests revealed he had a potential cardiac issue.
