The draw comes a day after the host Chile's 2-0 win over Ecuador to open the competition.

Ricaro Pedriel struck the post in the 14th minute as the Bolivians had the better chance despite Mexico's good start. A low, bouncing cross came in and Pedriel had the near post to finish, but couldn't quite find the space between the woodwork and Jesus Corona.
