The most capped player in United States soccer history does not believe the coach’s job is tied to the team's performance at this summer’s Gold Cup.
Former United States international Cobi Jones doesn’t believe Jurgen Klinsmann needs to win the Gold Cup to keep his job.
“I don’t think Jurgen’s job is on the line if they don’t win the Gold Cup,” Jones told Goal USA. “He’s signed all the way through the next World Cup and I think he’s in a pretty good position.”
The U.S. coach has come under criticism post-World Cup for a run of friendlies that have seen the national team concede late in games, while experimenting with different lineups.
