Club America open season with 2-0 win over Chiapas

Club America defeated Jaguares de Chiapas 2-0 to reign in its centennial season as Darwin Quientero, and its latest acquisition, Silvio Romero, scored its two goals of the game.

The first half of the game began at a dragging pace as both teams tried to find their rhythm playing on a rain drenched field. Once past the first 25 minutes, Chiapas and America began creating opportunities but failed to knock in the go-ahead goal. For Chiapas, the clearest opportunity, and biggest miss in the first half, went to Martin Zuniga as he ran down the ball on the counter off a defensive mistake from Paul Aguilar near the 33-minute mark.
