Club América dominate woeful Chivas to get a convincing first leg win in CONCACAF Champions Cup

Club America made a statement in the CONCACAF Champions Cup after defeating Chivas in the first leg of their Round of 16th match by a 3-0 score. The Superclasico, the biggest match in Mexican Football, arrived in CONCACAF with style as America dominated a Chivas side that continued a streak of bad results in Guadalajara against their biggest rivals. Coach Fernando Gago made a lackluster debut in a Superclasico with a controversial move that ended up costing them dearly. Chivas will stay home to face Leon in Liga MX while America returns home to face Tigres before both team meet again next Wednesday for the return leg.
