City and Liverpool gear up for Sterling saga

Liverpool have rejected a bid from Manchester City worth an initial £25 million, rising to £30m, for Raheem Sterling, prompting the start of what will surely be a long, drawn-out transfer saga this summer. David Usher (Liverpool) and David Mooney (Manchester City) debate the negotiations between the clubs.

What's your initial reaction to Liverpool rejecting the £25m bid for Sterling?

David Usher: It was hardly surprising. It's all "part of the dance," as Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers likes to say. All summer the reported asking price has been a minimum of £50m, so Liverpool were never going to accept half that amount, while City (or anyone else for that matter) were never going in with an opening bid to immediately match what Liverpool are looking for.
