Canada Coast Past New Zealand, Secure Knockout Spot at 2019 Women's World Cup

Canada booked their place in the knockout stages of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup on Saturday, as they secured a comfortable 2-0 win over New Zealand at Stade des Alpes in Grenoble, France.

Canada were in control of the ball for long spells and in the first period they did come close to opening the scoring when Christine Sinclair headed against the bar from close range. The half was punctured by a nasty arm injury suffered by New Zealand's CJ Bott.

However, Canada didn't need to wait long to break the deadlock in the second period, as Jessie Fleming steered home in the 48th minute after a brilliant break from Nichelle Prince.
