Bayern Munich should not have been awarded a penalty in its 2-1 win against Augsburg, according to the referee.
The referee who awarded Bayern Munich a late penalty in a 2-1 Bundesliga victory over Augsburg has admitted to getting the decision wrong.
Thomas Muller netted a 90th-minute spot kick to maintain Bayern's 100 perfect start to the season, after Robert Lewandowski had canceled out Alexander Esswein's first-half opener.
The penalty, described as a "joke" and a "catastrophe" by Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl, was awarded after Markus Feulner was harshly judged to have brought down Douglas Costa in the box.
