Barcelona hoping to get approval to sign under ‘1-1 rule’ again

FC Barcelona is hoping to get approval from La Liga to begin signing players under the “1-1 rule,” that is, they will be able to spend every euro they bring in.

Up to this point, Barcelona had operated under the 1-4 rule, which means they could only spend one euro for every four they saved or brought in.

Of course, that meant that Barcelona had to make huge savings in terms of contracts and sell a lot in order to make signings.

The Catalans are reportedly optimistic that they will close out the season “in the green,” that is to say, making rather than losing money, and that they will get approval from the league to sign key players in the summer under the 1-1 rule.
