Arsenal see off AC Milan to reach the Europa League quarterfinals

Arsenal are through to the quarterfinals of the Europa League after beating AC Milan 3-1 on Thursday night and 5-1 on aggregate in their round-of-16 second leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Hakan Calhanoglu had Milan in front in the 35th minute with a dipping, swerving strike from distance that left David Ospina no chance in the Arsenal goal.

But minutes later, Arsenal were back on level terms when Ricardo Rodriguez was questionably deemed to have fouled Danny Welbeck in the penalty area, with the latter dispatching spot kick to make it 1-1 at the break.

Milan came out of the dressing room needing two goals to draw level in the tie, but it was again Arsenal that looked more likely to score.
