Accam scores early; Chicago beats 10-man NYCFC 1-0

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) -- David Accam scored his first MLS goal and the Chicago Fire beat 10-man New York City FC 1-0 on Friday night.

Chicago (3-3-0) won its third straight game, while NYCFC (1-4-3) had its winless streak reach six.

Accam, an offseason signing, capitalized on a defensive mistake in the 20th minute. NYCFC backup goalkeeper Ryan Meara came out of his area to prevent the ball from going out of bounds, but he mishandled it and Accam dribbled back to an empty net.

''David is an exciting player, and when we saw him it was like 'Wow, he could be available and let's go after him', and we did,'' Chicago coach Frank Yallop said.
