UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU safety Mikial Onu is making a good impression in his first full season as a starter.
He led SMU in tackles each of the first two games of the season. Then against TCU the sophomore Onu had a big hit to break up a pass on third down.
Defensive coordinator Van Malone is encouraged by Onu's play and also how he prepares each week.
"He's continually progressing, continually getting better. He makes mistakes. He made mistakes in the [TCU] game but that's what you get when you play with young players," Malone said.
