UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU defeated Stephen F. Austin soundly to start the season, 58-14, but the game was far from perfect. The passing game was as efficient as hoped for and some SMU players were frustrated to allow the two touchdowns.
Head coach Chad Morris has a simple philosophy on how he wants to see his team grow from week to week.
"I want to see guys make new mistakes. You're not going to play a perfect game," Morris said at Tuesday's media availability. "You're gonna make mistakes. Mistakes are gonna happen. If there were no mistakes to be made, why are there coaches out on the field?
