UNIVERSITY PARK -- We're 11 days away from SMU's season opener against Stephen F. Austin. Head coach Chad Morris is on the verge of making a decision for the Mustangs' starting quarterback. Or he maybe he's not.
Morris indicated on Saturday that he wanted to name a starter by Wednesday. He acknowledged that while he'd seen good days from the trio competing for the job - Ben Hicks, Rafe Peavey and D.J. Gillins - they'd all had their off days, too.
So Tuesday Morris said that while a decision could still come Wednesday, he might wait until the morning of the opener to make his choice.
