Wednesday marks SMU's first spring practice under new head coach Sonny Dykes, who took over for Chad Morris in December shortly before the Frisco Bowl. Sure, Dykes got an opportunity to oversee practices for the week in the lead-up to the bowl game, but he was mostly a passive observer as he allowed the team to continue to run the systems from the previous coaching staff.
Now, we'll get to see what the new staff is really about. The big story line entering spring ball for the Mustangs is how Dykes and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee will implement their offense.
