EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- A few SMU defenders may have come off the field during Saturday's game against UConn with their heads down as the hosts scored one of their six second-half touchdowns, but Mustangs running back Xavier Jones wasn't upset. He told his counterparts on the other side of the ball not to worry.
"We told them (the defense), 'We got you all's back.' We told them, they can't stop us. If you can't get them off the field, we're going to keep scoring," Jones said. "So we'll just outscore them and that's what we did."
Indeed, the Mustangs really did simply keep scoring.
