Three things SMU needs to work on during the bye week

Related Topics: Bye

SMU has reached its bye week, which conveniently marks the midpoint of the season. After six games, the Mustangs are 4-2 with a 1-1 record in the American Conference.

With the bye week here, let's take a look at three areas that SMU needs to address before it returns to action at Cincinnati on Oct. 21.

1. Tackling

This was an issue in each of the last two weeks. SMU got the win against UConn but missed several tackles in open space that led to big plays for the Huskies. SMU was not so lucky against Houston, allowing 265 rushing yards to a Houston defense that had been averaging 140 per game.
