The three best games of SMU's young basketball rivalry with UConn

Thursday will mark the rekindling of the fledgling SMU-UConn rivalry as the two teams meet in the American Conference tournament opener.

While the rivalry is young, dating back to when SMU joined the American Conference in 2013-14, there have been several exciting matchups between the teams. Here is a look at the three best games between the Huskies and Ponies in the past four seasons.

3. Feb. 18, 2016: UConn 68, SMU 62

SMU was serving its postseason ban but wanted to hold on to its No. 21 ranking in the AP poll. It had its chances down the stretch, with Markus Kennedy missing two free throws and Shake Milton missing a 3-pointer that could have cut the deficit to three with 17 seconds left.
