5. Garrett Gilbert -- Some might argue that Gilbert doesn't does deserve to be on this list. But the Texas transfer holds multiple SMU records, including consecutive 300-yard passing games.
4. Fred Benners -- Benners led SMU to one of its greatest wins in school history -- an upset over ranked Notre Dame in 1951. He passed for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns. The New York Giants selected him in the NFL Draft.
