Here are five takeaways from SMU's 43-40 loss to Navy.
1. No quit. Things looked dire for SMU after the first half, facing a 34-11 deficit against a Navy team beat the Mustangs 75-31 a year ago. But the Mustangs came out of the halftime locker room strong with three consecutive touchdown drives, the scores coming on a 14-yard pass to Courtland Sutton, a three-yard run by Xavier Jones and a 17-yard pass to James Proche. Then a stop by the SMU defense on fourth-and-one gave SMU the ball back on its own 44 with 12:25 to play.
