1 . No defense. This may seem obvious, but it's really hard to win a football game when you can't stop the opposing team from scoring. That's the lesson that SMU learned in the second half against Memphis. The SMU offense scored touchdowns on its two drives of the third quarter, but it meant little as Memphis continued to pour it on with touchdowns in each of its first three drives of the half. Every time SMU took a step forward, it was another step back.
