Here are five takeaways from SMU's 44-21 win over Arkansas State.
1. Big play James. Sophomore receiver James Proche had his best game of the season in helping SMU to the win on Saturday. Proche caught a 55-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. The referee initially marked him at the 1-yard line, causing Proche to reach his hands to his helmet in frustration, but the play was overturned on review. He nearly had two 50-yard touchdowns, but his second was for "only" 49 yards. In total, Proche finished the game with three catches for 131 yards.
