SMU's spring breakout player could give the Mustangs a weapon they've been missing

SMU's football staff has given the impression that they are quite pleased with how the Mustangs progressed in spring. A physical, high-energy open practice to close spring camp provided further evidence of that.

And while there's still plenty of questions that SMU must answer before the 2019 seasons kicks off on August 31, some surprise spring breakouts have given the Mustangs reason to like where they're at.

SMU's offensive line entered spring as arguably the thinnest, least experienced unit on the team. That still holds true in April, but new O-line coach A.J. Ricker already has the group looking serviceable.
