College football experts are unsure of whether SMU will be bowl eligible in 2018 after making an appearance in the inaugural Frisco Bowl last season -- a 51-10 loss to Louisiana Tech.
Many of the recent bowl projections have the Mustangs missing the postseason, though a few do see the Mustangs sneaking in. The best case scenario appears to be another Frisco Bowl appearance, as one analyst projects.
SMU's difficult schedule, including opponents such as TCU, Michigan, and Central Florida among others, could be to blame if the Ponies don't make a bowl.
SMU needs to win three of its next five games to become bowl eligible.
