UNIVERSITY PARK -- Ben Hicks doesn't like to talk about stats.
SMU's starting quarterback doesn't think they accurately depict a quarterback's performance in any given week. He prefers a simpler number to evaluate his performance.
"Besides the film, I think I look at the score," the sophomore says. "It's my job as a quarterback to get us into the end zone. I think we're doing a great job of getting into the end zone this year."
SMU's 48 points per game are good for fifth for the country, tied with Oklahoma. That's a big jump from Hicks' freshman season, when SMU was 71st in the FBS in the category.
