For SMU, this game is about getting back on track. The loss to TCU last weekend was a tough one for the team to swallow but it doesn't hurt SMU's overarching goals unless the Mustangs allow that result to carry over into the coming weeks. A win against Arkansas State puts SMU back in the right direction heading into conference play and also gets SMU up to three wins, half the total needed for bowl eligibility.
