UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU topped Central Arkansas 2-0 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament Thursday night. The win sends the Mustangs into the Round of 32 to face No. 14 seed Georgetown Saturday in Washington, D.C.
"I thought we played well," SMU head coach Kevin Hudson said. "It took us a while to find the answer."
The Mustangs took the lead in the 50th minute. Jared Rice sent a corner kick to Emil Cuello, whose shot ricocheted to the left off a Central Arkansas defender. Nicky Hernandez crossed the ball back into the scrum in front of the goal, where Garrett McLaughlin sent it into the back of the net.
