HOUSTON - Head coach Chad Morris' biggest concern coming out of SMU's win over Connecticut was the team's struggle tackling, especially in space.
SMU's 35-22 loss to Houston Saturday night only magnified that concern.
Individual missed tackles, like safety Rodney Clemons' whiff on Houston receiver D'Eriq King's first-quarter touchdown, are one thing. But the complete breakdown by SMU's run defense was confounding.
Houston rushed 40 times for 265 yards, an average of 6.6 per carry. Cougar running back Duke Catalon finished with 177 yards and two touchdowns, a career high. He surpassed his previous season-high of 78 in the second quarter.
